REAL-LIFE SKILLS CONNECTION

Think First Global applies real-world skill development through application of lessons from each of the chapters within Founder, Travis Garrison's Book, The Crossover: A Bridge From the Court to Life there is a connection from a basketball fundamental skill to real and everyday life.

Examples:

Shooting

  • Strong Base: Just like you need a strong base in your legs before you go into your shot so you're not easily knocked off balance, you need a strong base in your life. Surround yourself with a strong base of friends who are doing positive things, engaged in school, curious about learning and growing. Keep your legs and roots strong to set you up for success in your life.
  • Repetition and Perseverance: Even if you miss a shot, in life or on the court, don't give up. Try again. The more you try and practice, the more confident you become.

 Dribbling

  • Forward Progress: No matter what, continue to move forward, even while the defense (those who may be negative, trying to knock us off our path/ focus) will challenge you.
  • Crossing Over: When the defense (negativity) is present, be able to change directions (avoid the negativity). Those negative friends, people, you need to ignore them and focus on the positive instead. Those who love and care about you.
